Free, free, help me set them free

Friends, fellow bloggas and most appreciated readers:

I need your help to free my childhood friend Lisa Ling's sister Laura Ling and her Current TV colleague Euna Lee, the U.S. journalists detained by North Korea on March 17, 2009.

Laura and Euna were arrested while reporting on North Korean refugees defecting to China, two courageously passionate journalists trying to bring awareness of a human rights story so often overlooked. They were detained for their brave work and will stand trial for their alleged "hostile acts" on June 4, 2009. If convicted, they face ten years in a North Korean prison camp.

To show my support as a long-time friend of the family, I ask you to join me in my efforts to secure Laura and Euna’s immediate release. Due to the sensitive international diplomatic ramifications, the families have refrained from speakaing publicly on the situation. With the upcoming trial, they are breaking their silence by appearing Monday, June 1 on NBC’s Today Show with Matt Lauer at 7AM and CNN’s Larry King Live at 9PM EDT/6PM PDT, as well as Wednesday, June 3 on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360 at 9PM EDT/6PM PDT. I encourage you to tune in as a display of solidarity with my much beloved homegirls from the 'hood, the sisters Ling.

Additionally, here are more ways you can help me set Laura and Euna free:

1. Sign an online petition at Free Laura and Euna to help us obtain a minimum of 5,000 signatures to be sent to the United Nations. We need all the signatures we can get.

2. Attend a vigil Wednesday, June 3, 2009 by bringing you, your family and friends to:

3. Join our Facebook group Detained in North Korea: Journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee.

4. Become a fan of Laura and Euna on Facebook: Free Laura Ling and Euna Lee.

5. Contact Governor Bill Richardson by filling out the information section on the link and asking for his help.

6. Contact Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton by calling her office at (202) 647-6575 and urging her to bring Laura and Euna home.

7. Keep up with latest developments by following the blog Liberate Laura & Euna Now.

Whatever you do, please be positive in expressing your support. It's doesn't help Laura and Euna’s cause to engage in negative speech or activities, so I will no longer be constructing L'il Kim™ effigies and/or partaking in my infamous Photoshop defacing antics. The singular goal of everyone involved is the immediate and safe return of the two terribly missed journalists.

Thank you in advance for your efforts and assistance, they are sincerely appreciated. Please forward this information to anyone of interest and check back for updates. I hope to see you on the steps of San Francisco City Hall this Wednesday, June 3.

Peace, love and freedom for us all,

BH
